LOVE IS BLIND

She was so young and beautiful, but she was blind
And for this, she hated all mankind
She hated almost every one, except one
A boy, who loved her & was very kind

Then one day, he finally
Asked her “Will you marry me ?”
She  thought for a moment
Then said “ I will, but, only, when I can see”

A donor was found, now the operation
was over, and soon, she could see
She seemed to love, the whole world now
But most of all, her own beauty

The boy asked her, “Now that you can see
Will you marry me?”
She was shocked, when she looked at him
She said “I would have to be mad, to agree”

He was silent, and hurt, he turned
To walk away, fighting back a tear
Then he stopped and whispered
“ Just take good care of my eyes dear ”

This poem was inspired by a short story I read
some time back. It shows how we  humans
change, when ever there is a change in a situation, condition
or with time. We are basically selfish beings,
selfless love is very rare. But then, this is Life.

  1. indeed love is blind!! The girl and the man, both are so different in their thinking... I almost cried.. love is selfless, but we are selfish..
but yes, this is life... we are supposed to move on.. be it whatever.

  2. Yeah...I've read this story before too. Your poem captures all the emotions and the turns of the story and conveys them beautifully :)

Yes, the girl turned out be a really selfish little thing, yeas the boy loved her like anything, yes people do get hurt...and hearts get broken, but I think it isn't like this most of the times, instead, everywhere(except my college :D, where nothing but tragic love stories and full-on dramas and bitchiness are on display all the time!:D Ignore the strong words, will you?:p), I see people who are genuinely in love, people who honestly care and I guess their love is what I'd call true...:)

I'm glad I'm surrounded by people who don't pretend...who love with all their hearts...

The girl was an idiot, there maybe many idiots like her in the world(including boys! Stop always portraying only girls in a negative light, will you?:@) but in the end after making all the mistakes they possibly can, I believe, love finds them and they too learn to love truly...

Anyway, liked the post a lot. Great work :)
    Keep them coming! :)

  3. Yes, I have read this story before but ‎still the poetic form of this story ‎made my heart ache for the boy who ‎gave up his eyes for a selfish girl. ‎Very sad but I guess the world is like ‎this only. Selfish and mean. Good ‎work. The story said in poem do ‎have a haunting effect on me. In ‎such a few simple words, it creates ‎the whole story in front of your eyes. ‎Loved it. Keep it up

  4. The story I have read before, but your poetic words only make it more beautiful.

Love - something that can never be defined. We all know how beautiful, how powerful the feeling is. But, many people mistake Love for a relationship that gives only happiness without giving back the same to the other person. People tag it as love, just because of their selfishness for wanting a companionship in need and when it comes to having a choice, they conveniently leave giving false reasons.
We can easily say that a person who has loved genuinely will overlook everything else just to be with the person no matter what the flaws are and will try to help to correct the dents with the best interests. The others, who fake love, be it boys or girls obviously wont stay back. According to me, it is better to be happy that such people are gone from one's life rather than to wally in sadness for it !

Oh well, lots more to say, but that will become a post itself instead of a comment but I hope I have put my point across !

  5. Wowwiee! The moment I started reading this post, I knew I'd read the story somewhere! Though the gist of the post and that of the old story are same, the poetic way in which you've presented it is too good :)
The moral of the story is that be sure that someone really needs you, as opposed to wanting something related to you, before sacrificing anything for that someone. It's a materialistic world we live in, and it's better to be safe and selfish rather than being sorry and becoming a victim of someone selfish :D
    Keep blogging, Dandila!
