It was a hot & sultry summer evening.
I picked her up on my way back home.
She was what I needed to take my mind of things
& make me forget the heat.
I glanced at her, as she sat in the seat next to me
as I drove home, in my car.
I could see the beads of sweat glistening on her body.
Yet she was so cool.
We reached home & I couldn’t wait any longer .
I wasted no time,
I held her by the waist , and lifted her up,
my lips on hers .
and my thirst was instantly quenched,
as I sipped from the bottle of iced tea.(P.S. Picture courtesy – GOOGLE)
Looks like i need to take classes to develop my "other" skills. Ohh buoy!! The last line saved me. Once again, i couldn't even guess anything related to iced tea. Well, the truth was.. i stopped guessing in the midway.. i knew i wouldn't be able to do it. Is any prop round going on, huh?
ReplyDeleteAtleast , the inanimate things are getting their due recognition here. :)
I loved it, but have never tried iced tea yet. I loved the feeling. :)
An awesome post!!
hahaha, i guessed this one as i just now read the one on chair too!! this talent of portraying inanimate objects as if they're alive is so awesome!
ReplyDeletei couldn't guess that.........i had to read till the last line to understand that this was the description of an inanimate object.......but just as always.....it was tooo cooolllll!!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThis one I guessed.(OK. Not as iced tea but as some cool drink). You find new ways to look at things(or the same way to look at everything you enjoy??!!!) Lovely way of writing. Loved it. Yes, your description made me yearn for some iced tea too. Ooooh , !! The heat is making me crave for a cup of iced tea. Keep writing.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Dad! One after the other...I guessed it right too(almost)!
ReplyDelete"Iced tea is too pure and natural a creation not to have been invented as soon as tea, ice, and hot weather crossed paths."
Isn't that true now?
I read that a sip of tea can be as steamy hot as passion and as cold as a wintry lake dip :)
You described the thirst, the yearning of the man so well, that's the way I feel too, usually not for iced tea, but for any drink, specially in this sweltering heat!
Just had my cup of tea, though not chilled :)I like passion better than a dip in the lake ;)
Keep it up, Dad! Can't wait for more :*
nicely done...also the personification!!!
ReplyDeletegood play!
Grrrrrrr I was so very close to guessing the mystery correctly, but had no clue you've been having Iced Tea of late! I thought it was ice cream or some fizzy cold drink like Appy or something! Sooo notttt fairrrr! :|
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, my regrets apart, the post was pretty good! And it got me craving for my bottle of icy cold Gatorade in the fridge which I need to get my hands on straightaway :D
Keep the neat posts coming, Dad! Love you loads!
Suspense at its best!! Who on earth could have guessed that, you are talking about ice - tea:-D
ReplyDeleteYou were again successful in keeping up the secret till the last line (as usual)! Brilliant job and so thoughtful...
However, this time I had guessed that, it had to be something cold to drink!!:-) but not ice - tea...
Haha.. I could never guess.. It starts of as though a character in a book is taking somebody along with him, but knowing you, I knew there would a twist at the very end which would burn the picture that your initial lines paint.
ReplyDeleteYour writing is always so cryptic, like a puzzle whose answer is revealed only in the end, after tearing out all the guesses that the reader comes up with initially.
Keep writing. Its been long since we've sharpened our guessing skills with your posts ;)
